Come join us for a family friendly gathering and ritual including dancing the maypole.
On a grey day, in a leafless woods we gathered to celebrate Beltane. Spring had been slow coming to fruition and seemed to need a little help from its friends. By the end of the afternoon, we all felt the power of spring in us and we had faith that soon enough spring would be overwhelming us with her natural exuberance.
We ritually untied last years ribbons and the community gathered around the fire and burnt them. The new year's ribbons were layed out and tied on readying the pole to be lovingly raised.
A joyful dancing of the maypole was followed by the energetic jumping of the bale fire.
